New Pikachu Headpiece! (Day 249)

After much deliberation (all of five minutes =O), I decided to make a new set of Pikachu ears. Originally, I tried to make the ears to put on the headpiece, but they didn't stay up. So I took an old pair of Pikachu ears and used them instead. I must say, I think it worked wonderfully =]

The ears themselves were storebought about a year ago, and came attached to a Pikachu mask hat thing. I originally took them off and put them on hair clips, but those were hard to keep on and couldn't be worn for longer than an hour without having to be readjusted.

So I ripped them off of the clips and sewed them onto a piece of yellow fleece, which I then trimmed with white lace. It's held on like a headband with a piece of elastic.

Today, I also realized that I really, really, really need to buckle down and start making Pokemon hats. I need to make 62 of them just to have the minimum of what I originally planned. I may just give in and buy all of the fabric I need for all of them at once. Ah, the money. I will miss it..

Kin-Yoobi's New Site!

I meant to post this earlier. Kin-Yoobi Con's new site is up! Kin-Yoobi Con is run by a group called Game-Zone Recreation, and so the main site is for GZR. The entire thing got overhauled, so not all of the links are active yet. However, registration for Kin-Yoobi is up, so check it out!

NEW COSPLAY IDEA: Phoenix Wright (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)

Heh. Heheheh. The image amuses me. He's objecting to my text! Oh noes!

So, really, while I love the games, I'm not a big fan of Phoenix himself. He's a little too wimpy for my tastes, but I suppose I'll manage. This is a companion costume to my boyfriend's eventual Mile's Edgeworth cosplay. I really love Edgey. I mean really. It's unhealthy, I'm sure. After convincing my boyfriend to cosplay him for my amusement, I realized that I wouldn't have a matching cosplay, which is just unheard of for me.

So I toyed around with ideas for a matching one, so many characters to choose from. Then I decided that my boyfriend and I would wear these to Yaoi-Con, and what better pain that MilesxPhoenix! OMG LOLZ TEH YAOI! I kid, of course xP Maybe.

The plan is to get a giant sign, like the commonly-seen "Objection!" sign, except it'll say "Yaoi!" on one side instead. Ah, all in good fun, of course.

I'm mainly worried about the hair though, of course. I'll most likely be getting a wig and styling the shiznit out of it. That's a lot of gel. I'm pretty sure I can just buy the rest, I even have a tie about that color already. I'm more worried about making Miles, but I still see it as being easy, though we really should start searching for stuff now, because everyone knows if we wait, we won't find what we need.

Started Up a New Blog (Day 130)

So I actually did end up making a convention blog. The convention-related pots will stay here, but have also been copied to the other blog. Most of my con info has been removed from this page and moved to the other. Also, the new page has info such as my favorite con, my first con, and my dream con.

I also added pictures to my AOD post of my costume.

Also, I've decided that I will make a "rave" outfit for Fanime's rave. Really, I just want something to do that won't kill my wallet, while waiting for more money to generate and for my boyfriend to get the money for materials for his stuff. I'll probably just grab most of my stuff out of my closet, but I want to make colorful, furry leg warmers for sure. Maybe I'll make a skirt too, if I find some cool fabric. It's really just a fun sort of project to keep me busy.

Happy New Year! (Day Ninety-Eight)

So with New Year's Eve and yadda, yadda, yadda, of course I didn't do any cosplay things. However, since the turn of the new year, I feel like all the conventions I'm planning on going to are so much closer o.o

BLARG! My boyfriend has to drive us to SacAnime Winter instead of my mom D= He doesn't like driving on the freeway, or at night, and it's two hours away. I feel bad... But my mom wants to leave at six, and that's when the FMA autograph panel starts! Nyaaaa! I refuse to leave before then. I'd sit down and throw a tantrum like t two-year-old if I had to, but I am getting those dang autographs. Yes. I need Vic Mignogna's autograph twice. STFU.

Day Ninety-Four

I almost didn't post today because I was hoping to get to bed at a "decent" time. AHAHA! I crack myself up. It'll never happen. In any case, nothing cosplay-related today. I'm too addicted to WiiFit to work on cosplay. Which is both good and bad, because I'm getting in spectacular shape, which, in my opinion, will make my cosplays looks better on me, but at this rate, I won't have any cosplays to wear. Hmm... What to do, what to do?

Anyway, I added some links to the blog to help organize the informative posts better. I'm also very seriously considering making a blog specifically for health and beauty post (makeup and such). Eh, gimme your thoughts if you care.

Next time I get the chance, hopefully some time this week or next, I'd like to update this blog with posts about each of my costumes, along with reference pictures, short biographies, links to more information, and pictures of my cosplays.

I also have a new costume I want to make *sigh* but it won't be until almost a year from now (next Winter) so no big deal really. I'll post about that some other time.

My boyfriend made me really happy today cosplay-wise. I was telling him about my ideas to better handle the money part of getting a hotel room for two says at Fanime, and he said he was really excited for it and wanted it to be now. I asked him why, and, to my shock, his first reason was because he wanted to cosplay! =O I'm so proud. He also wants a sword >_> As do I... Anyway, I guess this means that I can't ignore his costumes in a last resort attempt to save time and money. But it's a lot more worth it now to know that he really wants to do them. ^-^

Speaking of his costumes, I'm actually looking forward to making his boo (Super Mario Bros) costume, probably more than I should be. Surprisingly enough, I got the idea on how to make it from an issue of TOKYOPOP's free magazine. I read through the article several years ago just for the hell of it, thinking I'd never use it, but lo and behold, it will be put to good use! Let's just hope that I get better at paper-mache-ing things =/ It's not exactly my forte...

NEW COSPLAY IDEA: Pipe Fox (xxxHolic)

Why are there no good images of this thing? Seriously.

So, I've gone and done it again. That's right, I added yet another cosplay to my list. This time it's a human-form version of the pipe fox (transformed) from xxxHolic. I was drawn to the pipe fox when it first appeared in it's smaller form because of how adorable it was. I immediately wished for one of my own, from which came the desire to cosplay it. But, of course, such a simple cosplay would be, well, not very much fun. Not to mention a bit harder to do. I do not want to attempt to walk around looking like a fuzzy worm with cat ears. (I say "attempt" because I'd have no legs.) So I ignored the thought as much as I could, deciding it probably wouldn't happen and maybe I'd just make a miniature version of it for myself.


Then I saw the glory that was the pipe fox's transformation. My first thought was that it looked suspiciously like the nine-tailed fox from Okami (heh, what a one-track mind I have). Then I started noticing similarities in the art work of it, the markings on the face and the tufts of fur on the legs. That was the end of it for me. I knew I had to cosplay this thing.


Of course, it could just be an excuse for me to make another costume like Amaterasu's, because I fully intend to stick to that style. I think I'm looking forward to the mask the most, since I'd really like to take another crack at altering a mask. I'm still not entirely pleased with my first attempt on Amaterasu. I'm also looking to try making digitigrade hind legs again (with "backwards" knees). My first attempt, even though I had amazing instructions via Matrices.net, I really had no idea what I was doing and thought I could just wing it. Though I still do love my Ammy feet / legs, they're nowhere near what I had originally hoped for.

I also still want to make a little untransformed pipe fox for myself. I'll probably even keep with with me when I do the full-on cosplay. It sounds like it could be a fun / cute little side-project. I already know what I'm going to make it out of and how I'm going to do it. I just need the materials, which, if I remember right, are on sale at JoAnn's right now. I should probably check tomorrow. If they're not on sale, I could use some material I have now (it's the material I want, but not the exact color). Ah, well. We shall see =]

I'm excited about this (obviously).
