Trying... (Days 540 & 541)

I'd like to try to get back into daily blogging again, and it should be easier since I have my laptop back (it was busted for a while). Of course, my lack of blogging and my lack of cosplay accomplishments are directly related. When I don't blog, I don't realize how much I'm not doing, so I continue to do nothing, and when I do nothing, I have nothing to blog about, so I don't blog! It's a vicious cycle, really.

So. Yeah. I've done nothing. I'm still waiting on my Yoko wig and fabric swatches. Still haven't touched the fabric for the bikini/shorts, though I did look at the pant pattern that I picked up. It's pretty cool, it has three separate patterns for three different sizes of pant (petite, average, and curvy), which it probably why it cost about seven bucks. I can't decide if I want to modify the pattern at all. It's for high-waisted pants, while Yoko's shorts are actually low-rise, but the overall shape is the same, and I don't want to ruin that.

I also still haven't decided what to do with the bikini top really. Feh. Yeah. That's all!

So... (Days 422 - 423)

I realized recently (I think I mentioned it) that some of my posts were numbered incorrectly. I finally went through all of it, and I think I fixed them. At one point, I had gone from day 295 to 226. That along with a couple of other mistakes made it so that I was was exactly 50 days off, which is why my post numbers reflected that I had not been blogging for a year, even though it's been way over that.

No cosplay progress, but I have been practicing my 12-hole ocarina so that I can play it at AOD. =]

Hopefully today I can finish my Yaoi-Con review and do my Holiday Anime Faire review so that my Convention blog is up-to-date before AOD.

Tomorrow, my cousin, grandma, and maybe aunt are coning to visit for a while, and my grandma is going to be staying in what is currently my sewing room, so either I'll take it as an invasion of space and start sewing more in order to maintain my claim over my territory, or I'll get all passive stop sewing altogether until they leave. o.o I really hope it's the first one.

Fanime 2010

My Princess Agitha - Complete!

Okay. Wow. Where do I start...?

The con itself was great. It was just as friendly as the last time I was there, if not friendlier, the costumes were amazing and I saw a big variety of them. I got to meet so many friends of mine that I had only known online and I even was surprised to see a few of them there. I'm so happy I got to go, it was one of the greatest birthday gifts..ever!! D:

Debuting my Princess Agitha was great. So many people liked it and I was very happy!! It showed that my hard work paid off. The Zelda gathering was THE MOST AWESOME gathering I have ever been to. There was such variety and so much creativity in it. I've never had so much fun at one gathering. It was great. I also got to meet my faaaavoorite Zelda! She's so pretty and so sweet, she was there with InkyLink. :] Here's a pic of us!
As for the Masquerade? I'd say we did well on stage. We were so nervous though, most of us anyway so when I saw the video of us I could tell. I think next time we'll need to move a bit more and not look so bored with ourselves. I think we forgot to think about how we looked on stage infront of people.... in our minds we were just thinking, "DONT MESS UP!" heheheh. Ah well, it was fun and I enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy the stress part of it but next time we WILL BE PREPARED. We'll know what to expect so we won't be too disorganized or late with practices/showing up.

Ahh...there's so much I can say about Fanime but I really don't feel like writing it all. I had a fun time and that's what matters. I advise anyone who loves anime cons, to go to Fanime. It's a great experience and I know you'll like it! =)

Hope to see you next year, Fanime!

OH MY GAWD!! Work, work, work..

Wow. I did not mean to rhyme but whatever!

Soooo I'm kind of....FREAKING OUT HERE.... but that's normal when you have like 50 things to do for 2 costumes.

Yeah, only 2. If only they were simple...... but noooo, Agitha has so many tiny details that in order to even know how many she has you would have to analyze a photo of her for like....10 mins. I know some characters are worse but believe me, she's still complicated. Most of the stuff is stuff that doesn't exactly exist. Her pattern for the dress does not exist. I'm talking about the weird swirlies on the dress, the weird bug jewelry, the weird off colors, the jars she carries. Yah.....sooo guess who gets to paint that on with a made up stencil and fabric paint =D!!!!!!!!!! Yay me!! -_________________- I also have the rest of her dress to sew, there's like layers of stuff....and details too.

-Sigh- Her butterflies took like 3 hours just to paint several layers and add the detailed dots on there. I had to have a few colors out so I could use them all while I painted. I couldn't go fast either because as much as I WANT to rush.. I can't afford to because then it'll all look like crap. :[

-breathes- I won't even get started on my Mercedes costume.

Okay. I lied. I will. I need to make her giant crossbow AND wings...from scratch. No base wings pre-made or whatever..... and then I need to redo some of her costume because it bugs me how wrong it is. :( I won't have contacts for her either because I'd have to get my eyes checked ANd then buy the contacts on top of that. It would be around $100 without my insurance and stuff so yaaaah.....not happening anytime soon.

.________. -cries a little inside- I have a few weeks left...and this all must be done. Not just done. Done right. Everything takes long. The day is already ending and all I did was the butterflies and stuff. I'm not stopping now though. I'm going to go back to the basket for Agitha and work on that then make some of the bugs that go inside the jars. Yep...

Bye for now. Oh and yes, it will be worth it in the end but for now. I complain because it makes me feel better :D!!!!!!!!

/end of cosplayer rant.

Blog Issues... (Day 164)

Thanks to Sheik, I got confirmation that my blog was acting funky. I think I fixed most of it, it shouldn't send you to another page anymore.

Days 161 & 162

I really haven't done anything. So lazy..

It seems like something's wrong with my blog page. The title "Recent Comments" is being shown at the top right of the page, and the side bar is pushed the the bottom of all my posts. Then after being on the page for a couple of seconds, I get redirected to some spam page. Is anybody else getting any of this, or is it my computer?

Started Up a New Blog (Day 130)

So I actually did end up making a convention blog. The convention-related pots will stay here, but have also been copied to the other blog. Most of my con info has been removed from this page and moved to the other. Also, the new page has info such as my favorite con, my first con, and my dream con.

I also added pictures to my AOD post of my costume.

Also, I've decided that I will make a "rave" outfit for Fanime's rave. Really, I just want something to do that won't kill my wallet, while waiting for more money to generate and for my boyfriend to get the money for materials for his stuff. I'll probably just grab most of my stuff out of my closet, but I want to make colorful, furry leg warmers for sure. Maybe I'll make a skirt too, if I find some cool fabric. It's really just a fun sort of project to keep me busy.

Live & Learn... (Day 129)

So AOD taught me a couple of things. First off, no more entering costume contests by myself. It's dreadfully boring. Sure, there's other people around, but they're all discussing their own skits and performances. And there's really no one to "SQUEE" with if / when you win. You just sit there by yourself while everyone around you talks to their friends. I mean, that's not to say I was completely ignored, the girls near me did talk to me a little bit =] They were very nice, but it's just not the same as when there's someone there that you know. I dunno, maybe it's just because I'm an introvert and very shy.

Also, Comfort > Everything. Always. I mean, really. I'm not even sure I want to wear my full Amaterasu again because I was in so much pain by the end of AOD. I'll wear it to Fanime once for sure, but after that, I'll have to think long and hard about it. I definitely have to do some tweaking to the mask no matter what though. It just puts too much pressure on my forehead...

And, bad planning and coordination can ruin anything. Referring of course to the costume contest. I'm just taking what I saw and applying it to when I run one later this year though. I'm actually worried about Emceeing now.. I forgot, Emcees have to be funny =/ Or at least moderately entertaining. I'll probably just end up thinking on the fly and pulling stuff out of you-know-where to try and be funny. And if I bomb, hey, who really cares? xP I'll just go home and cry later LOL. *sigh*

No more conventions until Fanime o.o I might go to the Cherry Blossom Festivale in San Fransisco, but not in costume... Definitely not in costume. Unless I come up with something that would be comfortable in both warm and cold weather, because weather is so unpredictable in SF! I'm rambling.

I'm seriously considering (again) starting a separate "Convention" blog. Then I can move a lot of stuff over there. Yes? No? Maybe? Perhaps? I feel like I had more to say, but I guess I'll save it for tomorrow.

Day Ninety-Seven

I posted more costume info on this blog today. I'm going to need to organize this page again soon, I feel like it's too long, but whatever.

All of my spare time that should be used for cosplay is being used for playing WiiFit. But I'm getting bored with that game already =/ So maybe I'll start playing every other day or something.

Day Ninety-Four

I almost didn't post today because I was hoping to get to bed at a "decent" time. AHAHA! I crack myself up. It'll never happen. In any case, nothing cosplay-related today. I'm too addicted to WiiFit to work on cosplay. Which is both good and bad, because I'm getting in spectacular shape, which, in my opinion, will make my cosplays looks better on me, but at this rate, I won't have any cosplays to wear. Hmm... What to do, what to do?

Anyway, I added some links to the blog to help organize the informative posts better. I'm also very seriously considering making a blog specifically for health and beauty post (makeup and such). Eh, gimme your thoughts if you care.

Next time I get the chance, hopefully some time this week or next, I'd like to update this blog with posts about each of my costumes, along with reference pictures, short biographies, links to more information, and pictures of my cosplays.

I also have a new costume I want to make *sigh* but it won't be until almost a year from now (next Winter) so no big deal really. I'll post about that some other time.

My boyfriend made me really happy today cosplay-wise. I was telling him about my ideas to better handle the money part of getting a hotel room for two says at Fanime, and he said he was really excited for it and wanted it to be now. I asked him why, and, to my shock, his first reason was because he wanted to cosplay! =O I'm so proud. He also wants a sword >_> As do I... Anyway, I guess this means that I can't ignore his costumes in a last resort attempt to save time and money. But it's a lot more worth it now to know that he really wants to do them. ^-^

Speaking of his costumes, I'm actually looking forward to making his boo (Super Mario Bros) costume, probably more than I should be. Surprisingly enough, I got the idea on how to make it from an issue of TOKYOPOP's free magazine. I read through the article several years ago just for the hell of it, thinking I'd never use it, but lo and behold, it will be put to good use! Let's just hope that I get better at paper-mache-ing things =/ It's not exactly my forte...
