DC's November Green Lantern Covers
DC's November Green Lantern Covers: "
It's hard to believe how close we are to DC's revamp this September, and if the number of DC covers we've seen to upcoming books are indicative of anything it's that September and the revamp are just around the corner. Earlier this today DC released the covers for their November Green Lantern books, and between the blood shower and Sinestro as a Green Lantern, I'd say DC has a lot of surprises in store for Green Lantern fans.
It's hard to say what the issues will be about without the accompanying solicit information, but it looks like a whole lot of stuff is going to go down by the third issue of these books. Check out the covers to DC's November Green Lantern books -- Green Lantern #3 starring Sinestro as a Green Lantern, Green Lantern: New Guardians, and Red Lantern #3 -- and let us know what you think!

Comic-Con Cartoon Report: ‘Dark Knight Returns’, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ & More: "

What with all the massive movie, television, and comic book announcements at Comic-Con 2011, it was easy to overlook some of the animated superhero announcements, both in film and television.
DC, as per usual, had a pretty large showing with Green Lantern: The Animated Series video clips and announcements about their 2012-2013 schedule – including the animated adaptations of The Dark Knight Returns, Justice League: Doom, and The Killing Joke.
But Marvel’s slate, which included footage of Ultimate Spider-Man, was nothing to scoff at, either.

As was reported back in April, DC announced that The Dark Knight ...

Spoiler: Green Lantern #1 Cover Reveals the Lantern of Sector 2814
Spoiler: Green Lantern #1 Cover Reveals the Lantern of Sector 2814: "
We thought we had seen the cover to September's Green Lantern #1. It turns out that bloody fist with the Green Lantern power ring isn't the actual cover. Or perhaps it's a variant.
Today, DC's The Source has revealed the cover to Green Lantern #2 by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado featuring the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps.

Sinestro is now a freaking Green Lantern (again)? What is going on? If you didn't have a urge to check out Green Lantern #1 in September, you should now.

Comic Book History
Who is PARALLAX?
PARALLAX is a DC comics character that is the embodiment of fear, he is featured primarily in Green Lantern comic books. The PARALLAX identity was conceptualized by Ron Marz and Darryl Banks, and first appeared in Green Lantern #50. The entity concept was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver and established its sentience in Green Lantern: Rebirth #1. (2005)
First Appearance

Birth of PARALLAX

PARALLAX is a demonic parasitic entity old as time itself, being the embodiment of fear he travels from world to world and causing entire civilizations to destroy themselves out of paranoia.

PARALLAX was imprisoned by the Guardians of the Universe within the Central Power Battery on Oa. They used the green energy of willpower to overcome the yellow energy of fear generated by PARALLAX. The parasitic entity then laid dormant for billions of years. The dormant PARALLAX became known as the 'yellow' impurity that gave the early lanterns a weakness to the color that emotion is attached to, fear.

PARALLAX presence will be known in modern times first as the insane Hal Jordan, considered as the greatest Green Lantern. His insanity was actually due to PARALLAX influencing Hal Jordan, and increasing his self-doubt and then fear.

Freed from the Oan Central Power Battery, PARALLAX went to jump from one host to another; he usually is separated from his host due to their amazing willpower. Here are a few of the other known hosts of PARALLAX-
The Guardian known as Ganthet

Another Earthling Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner

After an incident involving Hal Jordan, PARALLAX finds himself trapped and chained in an energy bubble in the planet called Ryut. A being dressed in cloak controls him, awaiting his command to take on a new host.

PARALLAX found a new host in the superhero known as the Flash

Later, the renegade guardian, Krona, captured PARALLAX and the other embodiments of the emotional spectrum.

He placed PARALLAX once again inside the Green Lantern's Central Power Battery, introducing once more the yellow impurity to the Green Lantern's rings, so that he could control the members of the Green Lantern Corps.
PARALLAX_impurity_restored_062411
It was only thru the effort of the Earth Lanterns (especially Guy Gardner), wearing other colored rings that they were able to remove PARALLAX from the Green Lantern Central Power Battery.

To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not, please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside. Comic Book History
Who is GANTHET?
GANTHET is a member of the ancient Guardians of the Universe. His first appearance was in the 1992 graphic novel Green Lantern: GANTHET's Tale. He was created by Larry Niven and John Byrne.
First Appearance

GANTHET's unusual characteristic is his 'human-like' personality, which differs from most of the other Guardians who are very stern 'by-the-book' characters.

GANTHET is said to be a part of the Quintessence, a group of gods who oversee the universe in its entirety, though they hold special interest on Earth.

The Guardians lost their greatest Lantern (Hal Jordan) to 'insanity' that went on a rampage and massacred the whole Green Lantern Corps, and destroyed their Central Power Battery. The Guardians decided to transfer all of their power to GANTHET, leaving him as the last remaining Guardian.

The Guardians are gone, and the Green Lantern Corps is destroyed, GANTHET created one last Green Lantern ring from the remains of the ring of Hal Jordan. GANTHET went to earth and gave this ring to Kyle Rayner

Later Green Lantern Kyle Rayner ascended to a godlike being known as Ion. Kyle traveled to the recently restored Oa to recharge the Central Power Battery. By doing so, he created a new set of Guardians, this time as small children. GANTHET became these new guardians’s 'father figure'.

GANTHET played a crucial role of resurrecting Hal Jordan; it was revealed that his 'insanity' was due to his possession of the fear entity Parallax.

After the resurrection of Hal Jordan, GANTHET became possessed by the fear entity Parallax. He was soon freed thanks to combine efforts of the Earth Lanterns.

Later GANTHET will be banished from the Guardians of the Universe because of him embracing his 'emotions'. After his banishment, he formed the Blue Lantern Corps, which is powered by the 'Hope' emotion.

GANTHET would later return with the Green Lantern's not as a guardian but as one of them.
