Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 20

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku from winter comiket 201020 features, Miku?

Most of the characters featured in Cosplay Holic are barely reaching double digits, and you have 20?

To think I am more of a Kamui Gakupo fan than I am of a Hatsune Miku fan. I guess it goes to show how popular she is! Congratulations, Miku! No need to shy away from the photographers (or even the photo for that matter)! Thanks again to Pamela for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Gumi

vocaloid 2 cosplay - gumiKangae sugi no messēji
A message I've thought much too much about,

Dare ni todoku kamo shira nai de
Maybe it'll reach somebody, who can say?

Kitto watashi wa itsudemo sō
Certainly, I've always been this way,

Tsugi hagi kurutta matoryoshika
A patched up, crazy matryoshka

"Matryoshka" Lyrics and Translation by
Vocalochu

I didn't know there were new Vocaloids out in the market! Her yellow-green hair is certainly different from Miku’s but those eyes are certainly creepy. Thanks again to Yukino for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Hiyama Kiyoteru and Megurine Luka

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hiyama kiyoteru and megurine luka

Wakatteta yo Kokoro no okusoko de wa
I knew it from the depths of my heart

Motto mo tsurai Sentaku ga BESUTO
The most painful choice would be the best one

Sore wo kobamujiko ai to Kekkajika douchaku no kurikaeshi
This is a cycle of self-defeating love and resulting self-contradiction

Boku wa itsu ni nareba Ieru no kana
When can I tell you that?

Chồn Bão commented on my previous post that the guy Luka is with in her “Just Be Friends” music video is the Vocaloid Hiyama Kiyoteru. What do you guys think about this theory? Is it really him without his glasses? Thanks to Gale for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Rin 12

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine rin from japan winter comiket 2010Kei, the illustrator for the Kagamine, was given the concept Crypton intended: their approximate ages, an image of mirror, and an image of androids. No other directions were given as Kei had already illustrated Miku before. Rin was the first one to be illustrated and Len was made to match her, just as Crypton instructed. Their legs were also designed to mimic speakers.

Another cute Rin cosplayer from Japan’s Winter Comiket 2010! I wish she had a Len with her! Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 19

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 19

Did you know that Hatsune Miku has made a guest appearance in an anime? Miku and other Vocaloids apparently appeared in episode 5 and 13 of “Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei” auditioning to dub Otonashi Meru’s voice.

Miku as a voice actress? I think that’s a cute idea, don’t you? Thanks to Reign for sending this!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Len and Rin 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine len and rin 2

The Kagamine were slow to gain popularity in the Japanese fandom after the backlash of their original voicebanks. Although they have the most songs combined, they are no where near as popular as their predecessor, Hatsune Miku. Kaito’s failure had, in part, pushed male Vocaloids in so little demand that Len was not used as much as Rin. They do, however, have a larger fan following than Miku, and Len’s fans are also labeled among the most scary Vocaloid fans on YouTube.

This is pretty awesome! Especially their expressions, like the contributor, Cherokee, pointed out. I wonder if those are Kaito’s scarves? And is there a song that goes with this cosplay?

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luka and Tomodachi(?)

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine luka and tomodachi

Just be friends All we gotta do
Just be friends It's time to say goodbye
Just be friends All we gotta do
Just be friends Just be friends...

For a long time now, I've been meaning to feature this cosplay, but I didn’t know who the other person with Luka was and didn’t want to post this in the Unknown section. Then, a friend of mine suggested, “Why don’t you just call him ‘tomodachi’? The song that cosplay is from is entitled ‘Just be Friends’!”

Best suggestion ever! Unless someone already gave the guy an unofficial name we don’t know about? Thanks to Lyrica for sending this and to Susan for suggesting the name!

Vocaloid 2: Megurine Luki and Megurine Luka

vocaloid 2 cosplay - megurine luki and megurine luka by astellecia and hiyukiNow here is a Megurine Luka cosplay you don’t get to see everyday.

I thought they were two Lukas at first, but apparently, he is actually Luki, the genderbent version of Luka. Luki sings one or two octaves lower than Luka, giving her a male voice despite using the same voice configuration. Among the Japanese fandom, voice configuration is often the way Genderbent Vocaloids are created.

In any case, great cosplay by Astellecia and Hiyuki! Please be sure to visit their galleries too!

Vocaloid 2: Hatsune Miku 18

vocaloid 2 cosplay - hatsune miku 18Did you guys know that Miku has already stared in several of her very own manga?

“Maker Hikoshiki Hatsune Mix” began serialization in the Japanese manga magazine Comic Rush on the 26th of November 2007. The manga is drawn by Kei, the original character designer for Miku. “Hachune Miku no Nichijo Roipara!” is another series drawn by Ontama which began serialization in Comp Ace on the 26th of December 2007.

Since not everyone gets to buy Japanese publication, you might want to settle for the “Chibi Miku-san” yonkoma webcomic made by Minami.

In any case, another beautiful Miku cosplayer photographed by the lovely MPzero! Thanks again to Yukino for sending this in!

Vocaloid 2: Kamui Gakupo 02

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kamui gakupo 2

Although Gakupoid was originally set for release on June 2008 with Gackt as a model for the Vocaloid, its illustrated avatar was yet to be determined. Popular manga author Miura Kentarou of Berserk was finally asked to do the illustration, and due to his affection for Nico Nico Douga, he actually offered his services as a character designer for free. Gakupoid was thus released with Kamui Gakupo on the 31st of July 2008.

Awesome cosplay! And very awesome of the mangaka to create such quality work for free. Thanks to Kei for suggesting this!

Vocaloid 2: Kagamine Len 07

vocaloid 2 cosplay - kagamine len 7Kagamine Len is currently the only male Vocaloid with Appends assigned to him. They added an additional 6 voicebanks in the Append on top of the originals; a total of 10 voicebanks and the most of any Vocaloid. The Kagamine’s Append was split and 3 recorded in two different scales for Rin and Len accordingly.

This is a pretty awesome costume for Len. I wonder where it’s from? Thanks to Tina for sharing this!
