Avatar: Neytiri

avatar cosplay - neytiri by ilonka

The daughter of the leader of the Omaticaya Na’vi clan, Neytiri reluctantly rescued Jake Sully from Pandora’s wildlife. She later becomes attracted to him because of his bravery, although she is frustrated with him for what she sees as his naiveté and stupidity.

Another incredible cosplay from Ilonka! Would you believe me if I told you this photo was not edited on Photoshop? Ilonka wrote in her email that this cosplay took 3 months to make (using natural materials) and 4 hours of makeup. This photo was taken in Puerto Rico by JB Art Photography at the EL Yunque National Rainforest.

Now that is unbelievable dedication! Thanks again for allowing me to post this and for the additional info on the cosplay!

AVATAR's World of Pandora Touches Down in Seattle

AVATAR's World of Pandora Touches Down in Seattle: "

This past weekend, EMP Museum in Seattle played host to the world-premiere opening of AVATAR: The Exhibition via an all-new 3D experience.

Offering an unprecedented, first-hand look inside the highest-grossing film of all time, the exhibit was developed in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. Diving deep into the world of Pandora, the culture of its Na’vi inhabitants, and the groundbreaking technology that brought the blockbuster film to life, AVATAR: The Exhibition features iconic props and costumes, concept models, drawings, and interactive installations that allow visitors to directly experience the creative world-building and innovative technical filmmaking processes of AVATAR.

After the jump check out several stunning photos of the exhibit as well as the entire press release which includes hours and ticket information for the museum.

EMP|SFM and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products Announce Global Premiere of AVATAR: The Exhibition Scheduled to Open in Seattle on June 4, 2011

SEATTLE, WA – Fans of AVATAR, the highest grossing film of all time, will have a chance to get a first-hand look inside the spectacular world of Pandora through AVATAR: The Exhibition which will open at Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum (EMP|SFM) in Seattle on June 4, 2011. Developed in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, AVATAR: The Exhibition will feature authentic props and costumes, interactive displays, concept models, and sketches from the blockbuster film.

“The exhibition is going to be a unique opportunity for people to learn more not only about how the film was made, but also experience Pandora in a much deeper way. Fans will be able to see in-person the workmanship behind the film, whether it’s how scenes are captured; or how a Na’vi costume was built first as a real world garment then produced digitally,” said Director James Cameron. “It’ll create a tactical reality that’ll be a good companion to having seen the movie.”

AVATAR: The Exhibition will include elaborate displays of artifacts and props such as the actual AMP (Armored Mobility Platform) suit used in the combat scenes, soldier uniforms, and the original, hand-made models of the Na’vi characters and their wardrobes. Visitors will get to step into Cameron’s role as director and experience the process of creating a film like AVATAR through a series of interactive installations that demonstrate the groundbreaking usage of motion capture, virtual and 3-D technologies in film. The creation of Pandora will also be explored, revealing the science behind the universe, the creatures, the plants and origins of the Na’vi culture.

“We’re honored to work with James Cameron and debut AVATAR: The Exhibition at our museum in Seattle,” said Brooks Peck, Associate Curator at EMP|SFM. “AVATAR completely revolutionized filmmaking, advancing production technologies and processes, and forever changing how we watch movies. In the exhibition, we’ll bring to life the imagination of AVATAR as well as the technological innovations Cameron mastered to capture the magic on-screen.”

Robert Marick, Executive Vice President of Fox Consumer Products added, “This installation continues an effort on behalf of Fox to bring the AVATAR experience to life off the screen. The exhibit will be a true tribute to the amazing world created by James Cameron and to the fans that celebrate it.”

AVATAR: The Exhibition will run in Seattle through September 3, 2012, and then travel to other major arts and cultural institutions in the U.S. and abroad.

AOD 2011 . San Francisco.

Hey thar~

Yay, Sheik actually is posting something in this long forgotten blog of hers! How rude of her to have temporarily abandon it. My apologies though. I've been busy and lazy at the same time soooo my top priorities *cough* Ps3, costuming, facebook* have been taking over. Oh and work too. Yeah, work.... I'm doing fine though! ^-^; Some personal stuff kind of went on too but not bad stuff. I'm sure some of you already read my other blog and are caught up!

Soooooooo.........AOD. I'm going to Animation On Display in like 2 weeks. It's an anime convention held at the Kabuki Hotel in Japantown, San Francisco here in Cali. It's a fun con because there's nice people, the hotel is pretty and the underground mall is like right there. It's so fun going to the cute little Japanese shops in your costume. Hehe. Sometimes it weirds the older Japanese people out but you'd think they'd be use to it! Maybe they're weirded out because we're American? Is weirded even a word? My spellchecker disagrees but sometimes it underlines words that are completely acceptable. In any case. I'm going to this con and I'm excited. I just need to actually finish my costumes.

I've decided to go as Ayame Sohma in a maid outfit "he made" and Mai from Avatar. My friends are going as Avatardz so I was like "I'll join!" Let's just hope I can afford the fabric. I'll probably go out to JoAnn's sometime soon to get it. I think today I'll work on my dress.

Also Rikku, Agitha and Bridget are OFFICIAL costumes I'll be taking to Fanime in May. I have started working on the new ones. Agitha will be touched up!

Eee..I got to go potty! I guess I'm done writing now. :D TOODLES.

Wow. Okay.

Less than 3 weeks until Fanime? Like PikminLink just said today... Fanime really HAS creeped up on us. I fortunately can say I got some work done today! I painted the designs on to top part of my Agitha dress, added the grommets and painted any areas where the paint had chipped off whenever I had punched them into the fabric. I also finished the light blue part of the skirt/dress so now I need to paint on the designs! Yay fun! Yaaay..not...really..no.
I also kind of dyed my hair but it is not obvious..Only in the sun or looking up close can you really tell I added burgundy to my hair. The brown roots took it well, the faded black/dark brown? No. :[ I should have already guessed, I dunno..

Soooooooo yaaaaaaah. Check out my DAILYBOOTH! If you want to see some updates and pictures of moi. If you don't, that's fine too.. XD

Tomorrow I'm going by Kay-chan's to try on her petticoats underneath my skirt. Yay..~
I also might paint my buckles gold and uh get my glue gun back!

Day 115

I didn't do any cosplay today, because I went with my mom to see Avatar. Second time for me, first for her. James Cameron needs better writers! How do you spend that much time and money on a movie and wind up with a plot like that? All those acclaimed "subliminal messages" or "sub-plots"? PFFT! I'm rambling. I want to cosplay a Na'vi *shoots self*

AVATAR

So I just got back a while ago from watching the movie AVATAR with Robby. I have to say I haven't seen a movie that I enjoyed that much for quite some time. I really liked it and it was such an enjoyment to watch. Very beautiful creatures and also some creepy ones too. :3 I kept noticing the details of the clothing designs the Na'vi (Blue people) would be wearing. It would be fun to cosplay as them if...I had a body like theirs and was about 9ft+ in height? =P

I recommend anyone who is into Sci-Fi or action to go see this movie... or if you simply want to see a good movie. :D

Anyway...that's all for tonight. My feet stink...I need to take a shower. D:

BAI.

Took a Break (Days Ninety-One through Ninety-Three)

I decided to take a break from blogging because I've been feeling a little depressed lately. Probably hormones. In any case, I haven't been doing anything cosplay-related either.

Christmas Eve, I celebrated with my boyfriend's family, all fifty-some-odd of them. Spent Christmas with my boyfriend and my mom at my house. Today, went to dinner and a movie with my boyfriend. Avatar is awesome. If you haven't seen it, go. Now.
