The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - First Look at Fili and Kili: "

MSN has revealed the first look at Fili and Kili from Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey expected for a 2012 release. Take a look down below.

Two of the youngest Dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.

Evangeline Lilly & Barry Humphries Join ‘The Hobbit’

Evangeline Lilly & Barry Humphries Join ‘The Hobbit’: "
Evangeline Lilly and Barry Humphries join the cast of The Hobbit

Peter Jackson and his production team are currently “taking a break” from shooting The Hobbit to focus on some editing/effects work – and do some location scouting for the next filming period in August. This has also allowed Jackson the opportunity to announce what he says should be the last bit of “major casting” for the two-movie project.
That “last” bit of Hobbit casting news concerns the addition of Lost star Evangeline Lilly as a lovely elf and Parkinson‘s Dame Edna Everage (a.k.a. actor Barry Humphries) as the Goblin King/Great Goblin whose forces capture the young Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and his fellow dwarf comrades as they journey to the Lonely Mountain.
Jackson once again announced the news via his Facebook page, describing Lilly’s Hobbit persona as “a new ...

Luke Evans Joins ‘The Hobbit’; Benedict Cumberbatch Voicing Two Villains

Luke Evans Joins ‘The Hobbit’; Benedict Cumberbatch Voicing Two Villains: "
Luke Evans in 'The Hobbit'; Benedict Cumberbatch Will Voice Two Villains

All is well for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit movies, which now officially have subtitles more interesting than Part 1 & 2. Principal photography on the long-delayed Lord of the Rings prequel began a few months back in New Zealand and – with the exception of Rob Kazinsky’s departure – the shooting process for the film has been virtually problem-free in comparison to pre-production.

Casting for both Hobbit pictures is close to done at this point; still, just yesterday, the role of a pivotal supporting character who will likely appear in the second film (The Hobbit: There and Back Again) was finally filled. We also now know what part(s) Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing in the movies as ...

The Hobbit Adds Stephen Fry And More

The Hobbit Adds Stephen Fry And More: "
The Hobbit Adds Stephen Fry And More

The Hobbit has added more to its ever-growing cast: Stephen Fry has joined, a new part has been given to Ryan Gage, and vertically-huge (and appropriately-named) action star Conan Stevens is on board.

According to the latest Facebook update from director Peter Jackson, the film will be finishing its first block of shooting in three weeks before going on hiatus. However, it won't be a break for him, as editing and visual effects will be tackled, as well as some planning for characters and sequences in the later portion of the 3D two-part epic.

The addition of this trio of cast members comes as the highly-anticipated production readies to cross its first production landmark. Find out who they'll be playing.
Stephen Fry, the legendary British writer and funnyman, who is also a longtime performance partner of House's Hugh Laurie, will be playing The Master of Laketown, a leader who will soon find his administration defined by fiery dragon-related homeland security.

Ryan Gage, is a young star of British television and stage, who interestingly enough, was cast in the film late last year to play Drogo Baggins, father of Frodo, will instead find himself playing Alfrid, a role that Jackson describes as "the Master's conniving civil servant." Apparently, the switch was a promotion, as this will be a much larger part.

Finally, Conan Stevens, the muscle-bound, 7' 1" Australian who is currently seen in HBO's swords and incest series, Game of Thrones, will be playing a prominent and surely-menacing Orc in the film named Azog.

The director also posted this photo of himself standing next to the giant of a man.

‘The Hobbit’ Casts Two More; Hugo Weaving Returning As Elrond

‘The Hobbit’ Casts Two More; Hugo Weaving Returning As Elrond: "
Dean O'Gorman and Lee Pace sign on for Peter Jackson's The Hobbit

Production on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit has (thankfully) proceeded without a significant hiccup, with the sole bit of trouble being related to Rob Kazinksy’s departure from the film. As expected, his role as the dwarf Fili was quickly recast; the two-part adaptation has at last filled another important supporting role as well.

New Zealand actor Dean O’Gorman is now playing one of the thirteen dwarves that accompany Bilbo Baggins on his famous Middle-Earth adventure; in addition, Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) is now officially set to appear as Elven King Thrandull.

Jackson announced the news in his now customary fashion, posting the following on Facebook:

Dean O’Gorman will be playing Fili. Dean’s a terrific Kiwi actor, who I am thrilled to be working with. He’s recently been in an excellent ...
