DC Direct’s new Batman, Inc. series hit comic shops a couple weeks ago and my Bros, PBJMan and Xavion2004, were pretty excited about Robin-Damian, so I decided to pull the trigger and ordered both Robin and Batman from an online retailer.
I can’t say I’m a big fan of the new Batman, Inc. look but, I must confess, this is a pretty tough looking Batman figure and my curiosity about it had been piqued since I saw pics of it from Toy Fair.
The big, yellow belt is the only part of his overall look I don’t really care for. I know it’s how the costume was designed, it just doesn’t look “Batman” to me. It looks more like a flotation device than a utility belt.
Along with the wrist and bicep pivots (POAs that have been cropping up with more frequency in DCD figures) this Batman has pivot points at his waist and boots as well. Always a nice surprise to get a couple more POAs in a DCD figure!
Damian/Robin is a great rendition of the character but I was a little miffed to find that he was shorted in the bicep pivot POAs. The sculpt is rather deceiving because it looks like there are cuts where the bicep meets the shoulder but, alas, there be none. Still, the new Robin looks pretty cool and fits in great with my DCUC collection, which was why I bought him in the first place.
Even though Robin got cheated out of bicep pivots, he did get articulation at his wrists…
… and waist!
So there you have it, the new Batman and Robin from DCD’s Batman, Inc. series. My “wild” guess is that they will be the big sellers of the series so you might want to grab ‘em while you can.
Happy hunting!
