Straight from QuakeCon 2011 in Dallas, id Software has released new screenshots from Rage, Prey 2, and Dishonored, along with a look at Rage’s cover art. And yes, you want to see this. It’s visually stunning.
Rage
I kind of love the cover art for this one; it conveys everything you need to know in an eye-catching way. Rage is coming October 4th to North America and October 7th to Europe. From the makers of Doom and Quake comes a new post-apocalyptic future that features an original storyline and a mixture of racing and FPS elements. It’s id’s first new IP in fifteen years. (The last was Quake, which released in 1996. See, I’m good at math.)Prey 2
Prey 2 is upping the ante on the original in a big way, with a complete paradigm shift for the series that transplants a brand new human hero to an “alien noir” world where he’s forced to work as a gun-for-hire. Full details haven’t yet been released for this one, but it looks better and better with every new screenshot. Right now, Prey 2 is scheduled for a March 2012 release, but that could easily change.
Dishonored
From a cross-section of developers that worked on Deus Ex, Thief, Arx Fatalis, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Dishonored is one quirky yet compelling sounding title. It’s an open-world sandbox, set in an alternate history where multiple options are available to take down every enemy. Details are scarce, but it’s expected around mid-2012.
