Yesterday was kind of a waste of time, but today was productive.
A friend came over to use my sewing machine, since he doesn't have one himself. I helped him sew a fancier fabric onto his waistcoat (which was a tough job, but we sorta made it in the end).
I also went to the 2nd hand store with my mother to see if we could find anything for her costume. We did. She now has a nice brown top with a lace decoration, which we still need to take in a bit (it's too big for her). I also found the perfect top for my dress. I was looking through some stuff while my mother was trying something on, when something fell from a coat hanger. When I picked it up, it turned out to be an awesome top that actually reminded me of a Renaissance bodice (square neckline and tabbed bottom). Plus, it was exactly my size. So I bought it for €4. Then I took it apart, and tomorrow I'll try to make a top for my dress.
What I did do is "test-drive" most of my stuff already, and let me tell you, it feels soooo luxurious and decadent.
Soft, shiny and expensive-looking fabric in a gold-like colour is just the start. On top of those, there are pearls everywhere: my earrings, my headdress, my necklace and my bracelet are obviously made of them. There are also pearls on my bodice and on my skirt. Then there's my make-up, which will cost a fortune since it'll mostly consist of gold leaf and (again) pearls. Even my nails will look like they're made of gold...
